Thesis : Week 1 & 2

Three ideas:

Memory: How do we explain the dissonance between what really happened and how we remember things. Understanding how stories get passed on from one generation to another and how do we document that loss in translation

Motion Sickness: Documenting the transitions between motion and stillness and how we move in and out of spaces. Using video, sculpture and installation as mediums of communicating the feeling of being in motion but feeling still or vice versa

Mapping how the internet will define how we life and the permanent re-configurations it will hard-wire into human lives. What effects does this have on space, form, thought & being

Topic / MEMORY

Questions/words:

Why do we retain some memories but forget some? How do we remember some so acutely while the rest become a blur? How do we address the loss in translation between an event that occurred and how it gets communicated? How do we bridge the gap between stories passed on from one generation to another? How do we visually represent the dissonance between how one remembers something and how someone else perceives it?

How do I create a visual library of memories that represent stories and spoken narratives????? How can we provide respite, warmth and connection to individuals by weaving stories together and celebrating shared experiences
