I want to investigate the possible effects of memory on how stories are passed on from one generation to another. I am intereseted in distilling the verbal elememts of these stories into spatial and experiential elements. The effect trauma has on memory and how it is filtertered down generationally. What characteristics and identity stories can be demonstarted visually to narrate the history of a person or a family's narrative. What defense mechanisms do peopl adopt and how do I reprsent them? Why do people choose to remember centrain aspects of a narrative and why do they forget the othrs? What is the role of consciousness in this system of remebering and forgetting? How do you visualise a spoken narrative that is abstract?

People I know: important to have access to 2-3 generations of the family in order decipher the narrative and identity of the family and the chronolgy of stories that would act as visuals
