ICM - Week 1

Until ITP, my perception of programming was limited to data or computer science. I would've never imagined the integration of coding with visual arts and I see great value in the possibilities of creative coding as a creative. My goals involve an actualisation of ideas that are not restricted by medium. While I may not be able to streamline a more professional goal, my personal goal will always be to improve the quality of communication with my work so as to do justice to an idea of an interaction, and creative coding enables me to do the same.

As technologies create possibilities, there are infinite permutations with which one can translate an idea into a project. While I have explored methods of expressing with my hand for as long as I can remember, I have been slower to create a similar synergy between mind and machine as I have between mind and hand. My explorations with computing hope to challenge limitations I have imposed on myself, and open myself to a new way of thinking/creating that is representative of the diverse body I hope to create. I think I will have more clarity on how to integrate creative coding with my personal projects better once we move further but my core goals will always revolve around senstive and effective communication in the scope of branding, identity, architecture, journalism and social justice.
